Last Friday tractors filled the Senaatintori, Helsinkis most emblematic and symbolic place (yep, it’s the square just off the white church). Fair enough. We, the town mice, tend to forget about thousands of the country mice out there, what kind of lives they live and how important they are to us. Sometimes we have to be reminded.
I arrived when the square was shaking and rumbling and smelling of oil, the tractors were just about to leave down Aleksanterinkatu, the largest shopping street in Finland. Also, I vaguely recall some sunshine…
