Found ’em!

Blogroll, Helsinki

Ha! So this is where the people of Helsinki were this evening: at Hernesaari! Helsinki’s design public sauna (and a fancy bar) known as Löyly (“steam”) opened the other day. Check out the link, when we stopped by it was hopelessly occupied by young crowds and therefore impossible to get a decent picture of the whole structure. It smelled… it smelled like holidays. Think wood, tar and sea.

Quite a difference to when I last visited, or? 😉

Tonight you fill probably come across countless selfies and #loyly-hashtags… well, in a few weeks the novelty shall wear off and I shall return there. And maybe try out the sauna.

… and a personal touch to the blog: I had a nasty migraine today again. As a consequence I hyped up in the evening and tried to make up for the unfortunate first half of the day, the hype then crashed. And I received a compensation in form of ultrahipster kebab, revival kit for my old Nokia phone and a short trip to Löyly. This is just to explain the lack of spirit and creativity in this post. Thanks for understanding.

Among the best places in Helsinki

this time of the year is Hernesaari. It is unbelievably calm(ing). It has charms of both (semi)deserted heavy industry areas and building sites on one hand and the sea and sailing on the other (check out our boat holder dock pictures from summer 2014 somewhere on this blog). And this time of the year, my friends, this oasis of peace doubles as a snow dump site (Iknowright). It is really satisfying to watch the line of trucks coming to the dump site and dumping the load into the sea and then to hear the snow fizz and see it melt… and then jump into the warm bus and be driven back to the civilisation.
